La presa de Casupá is a gravity-type concrete compacted dam with a straight plan and a height over the foundation of 30.39 meters.
AIN active has constructed a reduced-scale model of it at 1/30 scale, which consists of the following elements:
-
Incoming pipeline
-
Incoming chamber
-
Flow measurement canal
-
Reservoir
-
Dam
-
Buffer basin
-
Receiving channel
-
Bottom drainage channel
-
Return channel
The experimentation on this model has focused on different aspects:
-
Analysis of the spillway’s drainage capacity.
-
Flow aeration and obtaining the flow profile.
-
Study of velocities and depths along the stepped chute.
-
Formation of the hydraulic jump and its behavior under both project and extreme flood conditions. Sensitivity study regarding the step used in the basin and its length.
-
Evaluation of depths, pressures, and velocities in the buffer basin.
-
Analysis of the reintegration into the channel.
