General Collectors and EDAR de O Grove

The project includes the following actions:

  • Construction of a new pumping station in the current pretreatment building (PUMPING STATION IN PRETREATMENT)

  • Construction of a new pumping section between the pretreatment and Terra de Porto (PUMPING SECTION 1)

  • New pumping well in Terra de Porto (PUMPING IN TERRA DE PORTO)

  • Construction of a new pumping section between Terra de Porto and the headloss point (PUMPING SECTION 2)

  • Collector from the headloss point to the connection with the existing pumping section from the Meloxo pumping station (COLLECTOR 1)

  • Inlet collector to the WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant)

  • Submarine outfall

  • Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)

The treatment plant will process wastewater for an equivalent population of 40.000 inhabitants, with an average inlet flow of 115,5 l/s and a peak treatment flow of 2,25 times the average flow. The maximum permissible flow during rainy periods is 260 l/s. Therefore, a bypass system is planned in the treatment plant to divert excess water to prevent overflow during operation.

The adopted solution involves biological treatment using activated sludge, with its implementation being influenced by the coastal protection line and the irregularity of the site.
